Our values.

How it Started

Micheal (Kehinde) and Jessie first met in Cape Town through a mutual friend who was curious if their similar walks of faith might spark something special. As both Micheal and Jessie have embraced many years of living in cross-cultural missions, they formed deep bonds with the people they served. This brought a love for people outside their own cultures, leading to a natural ability to merge their lives together through Christ being the unifier. Their marriage not only represents a story of love but a beautiful unification of cultures and obedient journeys with the Lord.

They walked into this marriage with a dream of doing God’s kingdom work together. Through their separate work – whether in clinics, kitchens, villages, or cities – Micheal and Jessie had similar missions: to stand with, nurture, and encourage the heavy hearted as they experience the freedom journey found in Christ so they can discover and walk in their God given abilities and purpose.

As their dream grew, the Lord led them to start the Palm Grove Initiative. Through faith, trust, and obedience in the Lord they began registering PGI in October 2024 in Nigeria, soon followed by registration in Eswatini and a USA 501(c)(3) partnership with Friend of the Great Commission. Through this ministry together they will continue to live a life of purpose and mission, walking side by side with the forgotten and pointing them to light and transformation found in Christ.

Kehinde Micheal Osatuyi

Born into a family with strong cultural roots and deep faith, I stand proud of my Yoruba heritage and Nigeria upbringing. I grew up surrounded by traditions that taught me the value of family, responsibility, and compassion for others. As a twin my name Kehinde means the “second-born” and carries spiritual significance reflecting my calling to follow the Lord with wisdom, strength, and service.

Having a passion for caring for people, especially the vulnerable and overlooked, led me into the field of healthcare and humanitarian work where my compassion for others grew and I found my purpose. My heart for the vulnerable soon expanded beyond Nigeria when I landed in South Africa for post grad education in 2018 in Cape Town, SA. Experiencing a life altering mugging and temporal homelessness in South Africa, even before arriving in Cape Town, brought me to understand the homeless on a heart level.

When COVID hit in 2020, I began serving the homeless food from my kitchen, and this simple act soon grew into developing and co-founding a community kitchen that served, educated, and cared for people in homelessness and people with disabilities. In 2023 I felt God was leading me to end my time in South Africa and take a step of faith into the next chapter, and in the midst of that transition I met Jessie and knew my next chapter was in serving others together.

I joined Jessie in eSwatini, where together we do God’s kingdom work advocating for inclusive development, growing economic development, supporting children with disabilities, youth mentorship, and serving underserved communities in eSwatini. Our dream of Palm Grove Health and Wellness Initiative is rooted in holistic healing — physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and relational. I believe every person deserves to be seen, heard, and known.

Jessie Osatuyi

Born in a little town in California, I was greatly impacted by a childhood friend in kindergarten. This friend, having just come back from eSwatini, shared stories of her Swazi life while we walked around the playground, sparked a childlike dream of living there as a missionary. Many years later in high school I felt God confirm my calling to be a missionary to eSwatini. Inspired to have a useful skill set I went to nursing school, and after working as a nurse for 3 years in Colorado, I moved to eSwatini in 2008 to work as a community children's nurse.

The first couple of years in eSwatini would be some of the hardest I’ve ever lived through. Immersed into a new culture, with lots of new medical responsibilities, at the turn of the AIDS crisis, I wrestled to see God in the midst of it all. As I journeyed within the community and wrestled with the hardship around us, I began to experience God in a real way.

17 years later, my husband Micheal and I in 2025 founded Palm Grove Initiative in eSwatini. Currently working on my master's in counseling from Liberty University I continue working in the rural communities of eSwatini and am excited to see what the Lord has in store for Palm Grove Initiative.

Rachel Parks

Born and raised in Mount Vernon, Ohio, from an early age I knew I wanted to be a nurse and work with underserved populations. I had a passion to love and see people who were often overlooked and unseen. However, I never pictured myself living overseas and moving away from my family and friends. This picture developed over time with God working on my heart and passions for what He had in store for me.

While in nursing school in 2017, I wrestled with the Lord about what He was asking me to do in life. That year I visited eSwatini with my university to volunteer alongside a medical missions organization. I had never left the US nor did I know what I was about to step into. I was so uncomfortable, yet in those two weeks I was also at extreme peace. The Lord opened my eyes to the passions, desires, and dreams He had developed in my heart and mind. He made the picture clear: one day I would live in Africa serving with Him in ministry.

While working 4 years in a pediatric ICU, I worked on my Masters in Nursing focused on Global Public Health. During those four years I would visit Uganda twice and where the Lord continued to confirm His plans for my future of living in Africa. Fostering my love for empowering vulnerable populations to grow to their full potential, so they too can see the beauty that the Lord has created in them. In 2024, I finally stepped into my dreams and moved to eSwatini to begin my ministry with the Lord in Africa.

After a year with another organization the Lord began to lead me in a different direction. This led me to joining Micheal and Jessie in helping start Palm Grove Initiative and partner with them in their vision. A vision in which mirrored the vision the Lord had given me when I first saw the clear picture of moving to Africa. Through my time in eSwatini I have walked with emaSwati to help them grow in empowerment and self-sufficiency. I will continue to live this out by journeying together with emaSwati in holistic initiatives so they will find their wholeness in the Lord and hope for their futures. Being the vessel of love and goodness of the Lord to the underserved and vulnerable population of eSwatini.

Our services.

At Palm Grove Initiative we view each of our programs as a carefully planted seed that will eventually grow into a thriving tree. When a tree is fully grown it represents a thriving, sustainable program that is positively affecting the community. Our dream is to watch each of our seeds grow into thriving trees. Learn more about and donate to our active programs.

Seeds

These programs are the vision for the future of PGI to reach more vulnerable populations in the communities of Central Lubombo. The hopes the Lord has placed in our hearts.

Planted Seeds

These programs are beginning to form and grow roots beneath the ground, but are yet to sprout. The beginning reality of what the Lord is growing in us.

Watered Seeds

These programs are the start of new life (impact) within our organization. We are fostering and developing them to begin building Christ-centred resilience and sustainability.

Thriving Trees

In these programs we are seeing the impact and fruitfulness they are having on the community. The Lord is producing thriving sustainability through these programs.

Children With Disabilities

WATERED SEED

Silusendvo [SEE-LOO-SEND-VO], meaning “Our Family Tree” in Siswati, is our expression of working with kids with disabilities and their families in a spirit of growth, togetherness, love, and family.

Youth Empowerment

WATERED SEED

Our Youth Empowerment program aims to equip the next generation. A recent successful event for this program was the Siteki Youth Sports Day, which brought together over 300 kids for a day of competition in tennis, netball, and soccer.

Mental health support is an ever-increasing need in our communities. Looking at mental health programs that equip gogo’s (grannies) to be trained as community mental health workers, like Friendship Bench from Zimbabwe, is an initiative we are prayerfully planning to establish.

In 2026 our prayer is to begin walking the journey of growing this initiative.

2026 CAREGIVER SOAP TRAINING #1 🧼🫧

Last week we gathered 25 of our caregivers to begin our goal of providing skills for economic income to our caregivers. This is just the start of many trainings and business planning courses we have planned for them 📊

In eSwatini, when you have a child with disability that means you need to care for them 24/7 due to lack of ability for schools to accommodate the child or a place that can care for them during the day. That leaves many of our caregivers unable to work or make an income to support themselves, their child, or their family. We want to empower them to be able to overcome this problem 💪🏾

We can’t wait to see the outcome of how this soap training and business will greatly impact our families! ♥️

If you are interested in supporting a soap training or another skills training, you can donate at the link in our bio! A small donation can make a huge impact 🌴

Remember just a few weeks back we were able to get five of our kids to see our eye doctor on the field?? Now we were able to get two of them to the optometrist to see if glasses would do the trick 🤓

Thank you to these four sweet girls from Malkerns Learning Centre for surprising us with a generous donation to support our Silusendvo program. We were so blessed by their kindness and desire to love on our kiddos. With their donation they helped us get Kuyalunga her first pair of glasses! ♥️

We were even able to deliver them to her at school where the teachers, headmaster, and her family were so excited to see her receive them! Kuyalunga even said, “I can finally see” 🎉

Community love, investment, and support from around the country is so beautiful! We could never say enough appreciation to these girls and the Malkerns Learning Centre for choosing us to receive such a wonderful gift 🌴
