At the Palm Grove Initiative, we believe that investing in caregivers is the most essential thing we can do to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities in eSwatini. For a child to be cared for, supported, and loved, their caregivers must first be cared for, supported, and loved.

Everything starts with the caregiver:

• Acceptance in the community begins with acceptance in the family.
• Hope for a child’s thriving future depends on the hope instilled in their caregiver.

The Silusendvo program (meaning "Our Family Tree") is our foundational service dedicated to empowering caregivers. We close the gaps for children with disabilities by focusing on their families first.

We deliver on this philosophy by:

• Supporting and Connecting: Building strong relationships with caregivers to ensure they feel loved and supported, and connecting them with others who understand their journey.
• Providing Holistic Resources: Offering access to essential health, education, and physical support to ease the daily burdens faced by the family.
• Instilling Hope: Working to empower families with the knowledge and community strength they need to believe in their child’s potential and thrive in the future.

We also recognize that strong communities need internal support. Our plan to establish the Gogo Bench Initiative will train respected local grandmothers (gogos) to become community mental health helpers. This provides a sustainable network of wisdom and emotional support specifically designed to strengthen caregivers and keep hope alive.

Ultimately, supporting, loving, connecting, and growing our caregivers is the beginning of everything we do.
