PLANTED SEED

The Grove Community Center.

A place for everyone.

youth empowerment palm grove initiative
Siteki is full of life and potential, but right now there's no dedicated space where people of every age can come together to learn, heal, and grow. Limited access to recreation, skills training, and support services has left many young people without work, and many children, elders, and families without the care they need.

The Grove Community Center is our answer to that gap. It will be a sustainable, inclusive, and accessible hub in Siteki for learning, recreation, skills development, health and wellness, and social support. We especially want it to be a home for those who are often overlooked: youth, the elderly, women, and people with disabilities.

The Grove Vision

To see a community center where residents of all ages and backgrounds can gather under one roof to grow personally, engage with their community, and experience Christ-centered, thriving sustainability.

The Grove Mission

To foster community resilience by creating an inclusive, accessible space that provides learning, recreation, health, and socio-economic empowerment for the people of Siteki.

Growing together under one roof.

At Palm Grove Initiative, we believe a healthy community needs more than one kind of care. The Grove brings many of the things our neighbors need into one welcoming place, so a gogo, a teenager, and a young mom can all find something for them in the same space.

Here's what we're planning to grow at The Grove:

  • Community Café and Garden: Up to a hectare of garden space growing affordable, nutritious, indigenous foods like beans, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, peanuts, and more. The café will host community dinners and cooking classes, and offer rental space that supports local economic development.
  • Skills Development: Short courses and certifications in practical trades, including ICT, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
  • Youth and Children: After-school tutoring, mentorship, coaching, and indoor and outdoor sports programs including football and tennis.
  • Health and Wellness: Health screenings, HIV/AIDS awareness, NCD education and care for conditions like hypertension and diabetes, mental health support, mobile clinic days, and disability-friendly health programs.
  • Community Cohesion: Dialogues, peacebuilding workshops, and cultural exchange events that bring neighbors together.
  • Social Inclusion: Safe spaces for people with disabilities and youth, plus a meeting room that will host the Gogo Bench mental health training.

Planting The Grove, step by step.

Like every program at PGI, The Grove starts as a seed. With the support of our partners, we're hoping to break ground in mid to late 2027, growing the center in phases:

  • Year 1: Garden planted, café opened with kitchen and seating, and a meeting room for youth programs and Gogo Bench training.
  • Year 3: ICT computer lab and an NCD health clinic.
  • Year 5: Sports program and field.

We'll be serving youth (ages 15–35), women and girls, young hustling men, people with disabilities, orphans and vulnerable children, and the elderly in our community.

Through a partnership between the DPM’s Office in Eswatini and Palm Grove Health and Wellness Initiative (PGI), one of our children with a disability received crutches and a wheelchair to support mobility and independence.

This reflects our commitment to disability inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for every child. Together, we are building a more inclusive environment where no child is left behind. ♿🤝

We were so delighted to bring together our amazing caregivers for a meaningful day of learning ,encouragement, faith and fun in the month of October.

Our community nurse from the community who came to shared valuable insights on personal hygiene, health care, and the importance of taking children to the hospital for timely medical attention.

Our social worker encouraged caregivers by highlighting the rights of children with disabilities and the importance of protecting their dignity, promoting inclusion and ensuring they are valued members of our communities.

Our lady pastor reminded us of the book of Genesis 1:27 that we are all created in the image of God, affirming the dignity, worth and uniqueness of every child and caregiver.

At the end of the day , we made it more special for them to participate in fun, therapeutic games that encouraged relaxation, laughter, connection and stress relief.

As one of our programs called Silusendvo (our family) at PGI we believe that when we support caregivers,we strengthen families and create communities where every child can thrive.

It was a 9 Days of Healing, Hope & Impact in Eswatini! 🇸🇿🩺
Palm Grove Initiative (PGI) was honored to partner with Ancient Church, Colorado, alongside 12 visiting teams, and Challenge Ministries Eswatini to conduct medical outreach across four ICBC centers.

PGI provided five interpreters to bridge the language gap between siSwati and English, while our directors, Jessie and Micheal, actively participated in supporting the outreach. We were also blessed to connect with one of our USA Board members who joined the visiting team.

It was truly a glorious and impactful nine days of serving communities, sharing compassion, and bringing healthcare closer to those in need. ❤️🙏

Together, we serve. Together, we heal. Together, we bring hope!
